Define PI more precisely first before accepting any advice you get based on what you’ve provided initially. It won’t be good advice until you define what you mean by public interest.

Also consider a school if you DONT want pi. I know someone who took a LOT of debt out for a school for PI and intending to use public interest loan forgiveness, but after a few years of interning and spending summers doing PI, had a come to jesus moment and wanted a private practice instead. Unfortunately for this person, they now have 250k in debt that can't be forgiven with the same public interest forgiveness.

Just something to consider. Make sure the school has great PI but also great private practice employment statistics. And its the t13 now, not t14. Georgetown has the employment statistics of a more regional school in comparison to the rest of the t13 now, hence why they fell out.

You can do criminal defense from practically any school. Impact litigation and wrongful conviction stuff are likely to require a haughty pedigree.

SO basically t13/14 for the latter?
Yes, and even within there, the higher the better.

Look at organizations you want to work for and see where the attorneys went to school. Most prestigious PI attorneys went to T14. Tons of Yale and Harvard especially. Law generally is prestige whorey.
