Retake with 174? Forum

Hi y'all,
My past tests had almost all been in the range of 178-180, but unfortunately a few careless errors and the rough curve of this LSAT dropped me to a 174. Is it worth retaking, and what schools would you say are currently in range with a 3.83 GPA? Thanks.

No real point in retaking. You have as good a chance as you can have at HYS, and you're in everywhere else.

What was the average of your 10 most recent PTs, and which PTs were they (not including June)? If it's 177 or below, then no way. If it's 178 maybe. If it's 179 or above, then sure.

In five years of TLS I can remember a dozen or so posters who had a 172 or better and retook (I think 175 being the highest). None of them did better. A few of them did much worse (160s).

The average of my 10 most recent past tests was probably 179.5 or so; the last few had been 180s. None of my past 20 or so past tests had dipped below 178.

FWIW I am pretty much identical statwise and probably not going to retake. My PT range wasn't as stellar, but I'm inclined to agree with cavalier. Retaking would be more about proving to myself that I can match my PTs than affecting my admission chances.
