Denied fee waiver, but still admitted?
Hello,
Has anyone been denied a merit-based fee waiver request but was still admitted? I requested some fee waivers this week (admittedly very late in the cycle) and was denied. Is it still worth paying the fees and applying, or should I take it as an indication that I will not be admitted?
Thanks in advance for any input!

For sure.
A lot of schools just have strict policies on granting merit fee waivers through solicitation.
I've gotten denied waivers places I can pretty confidently say I would have gotten into.

Lol yes, all the time. The process for admitting applicants is different than merit based fee waivers. Schools like to give out fee waivers earlier in the cycle to get their yields up. They stop at a certain point because they still want to make money off their fees. Higher education is a business.

Haha yeah I definitely haven't applied places I didn't get a waiver for.Colonel_funkadunk wrote:i didn't get in everywhere I didn't apply bc I didn't get a fee waiver
And it's not to say I wouldn't have gone.
I just literally don't have disposable income right now after paying for so many apps.
Schools should give them out more if your numbers are within range.

Ha! You're funny. I think I've spent too long with that mentality though. It's the reason why I graduated in 2013 but still haven't applied. Fear of failure is sad, and I'm ready to move on! Too bad I came to this realization a week before apps are due.

i wouldn't worry about the late app, they need us as much as we need them so they'll still accept good applicantsthoughtsinvacuum wrote:Colonel_funkadunk wrote:depending on circumstances I also like "you don't miss 100% of the shots you don't take"thoughtsinvacuum wrote:Colonel_funkadunk wrote:fordham rejected my request and I'm confident I could've been a solid waitlist-->reject thereRigo wrote:Haha yeah I definitely haven't applied places I didn't get a waiver for.Colonel_funkadunk wrote:i didn't get in everywhere I didn't apply bc I didn't get a fee waiver

Re: Denied fee waiver, but still admitted?
I was denied a fee waiver at Georgetown but was admitted without an interview! So best of luck
I don't think denying a fee waiver is indicative of anything negative!!!
