Does law school consider every class in details on transcript?

Post by Claire » Sun Jan 22, 2017 8:10 pm

HI everybody. I am currently a junior at college, and I transferred from another four-year university last year.
Due to different graduation requirement, I have to take two intro level class in my third year to meet the requirement. I am wondering does it look "wired" on my transcript? Or will it make me less competent for law school? Thank you in advance :)

Won't matter for law school. Do well, get good grades, enjoy.

Doesn't matter. You could take Intro to Breathing and they won't care as long as you have good numbers.

I doubt they'll even look let alone notice. And if they did, they wouldn't care.

So that hopefully people reading this will learn, law schools don't care because they only need to report the incoming class's GPA. So USNWR doesn't really care that U Chicago's C/O 2020 all took extremely difficult classes such as Thermodynamics or GULC's C/O 2020 took easier classes in general like basket weaving. Seriously, law schools care to the extent that it boosts their rankings and shows that the applicants have strong work ethics.

TL;DR: what class you took mostly* doesn't matter for law school admissions. If you're dead set on law school take the easiest classes possible and boost your GPA.

All they care about is your GPA. The classes are essentially irrelevant.

Also, I don't think it's strange to have taken a few intro levels as an upperclassman... I took most of my electives as a junior, and they were a good mix of freshmen starting out that subject as a major, and upperclassmen filling breadth requirements.
