Does getting YPed mean anything?

Post by carlos_danger » Fri Jan 06, 2017 6:08 pm

I have strong numbers but have been WLed/will shortly be waitlisted at every school that seems to do a good amount of YP (UVA, Mich, Penn, UCLA).

Does that mean my app, beyond my numbers, is weak? Like is there some sort of flaw leading to all these YP WLs?

Did you write a "Why X" for any of the schools you mention? I'd be a little hesitant to automatically assume that a WL for someone with good scores is always YP, especially if it's multiple schools in the same cycle. Also, what do you mean by "will shortly be WLed"?

You're right, I need to chill out. Just hard not to get inside your own head while waiting to hear back from other schools.

Apparently your flaw is having an application good enough for Harvard.

I figured I could have been admitted to Harvard on numbers but had some glaring flaw in the actual application that I was overlooking? Probably overthinking it.
