Re: ED Penn or Not. Need to decide TODAY
Not if this matters, but my dream school is NYU. I just don't think I can get in NYU...Is Penn really less competitive to get into?

Re: ED Penn or Not. Need to decide TODAY
Thank you for the input! I didn't realize NYU can be easier than Penn to get into. I thought I have zero chance of getting in because it is a lot more prestigious in my opinion and seems to be harder on GPA cut-off. Would the ED boost at Penn help?zeglo wrote:Don't do it. Opinions change.
I was going to ED Penn, but now I am in at NYU, and I may like it more. etc. And I do think NYU may be easier than Penn due to the larger class size (like with Stanford versus Harvard).
Plus, you just said you would consider other schools. That right there shows it. ED and get in, and you MUST attend. Can't even consider others.
BTW, other schools have JD/MBAs.
And Penn's MBA requires GMAT/GRE and is way harder to get into than the law school.
Want any easy JD/MBA chance? Try NYU. Their site says LSAT alone works.
I assume, like Penn, NYU doesn't give out much aid either right?

Im just having a hard time reconciling two of your statements: 1- the willingness to ED somewhere and 2- you are debt adverse. If you get in ED to Penn or NYU (which I think will be unlikely at best), you will be paying full sticker. That is 300k at debt repayment. Now explain to me why you would be okay paying 300k in loans rather than probably getting at least some scholarship money from Cornell? You need to figure out your priorities.

I think you are right, I can't justify my many considerations. Not even sure if those are actually the things I want.grades?? wrote:Im just having a hard time reconciling two of your statements: 1- the willingness to ED somewhere and 2- you are debt adverse. I don't think it's 300k difference though. I have have to pay a great deal of money anywhere I go. The number 300k is frightening so I prefer to trick myself and only look at numbers say 60k~90k differences. I also don't know how debt verse I am. I think of law school is not just as to get the JD degree so I can land some high-paying jobs. Somewhere, mostly likely irrational in me, was telling me to go law school. And honestly, I know how each school is different, but how their difference will be affecting me is unknown.
