The original goal when i thought I'd be able to recover from a pretty abysmal LSAT was to blanket the t14. as it turns out, i couldnt. I was about ready to give up on my law school dreams until a friend told me that i should at least try this cycle (especially if im able to get some fee waivers). myLSN is not pretty. reds and oranges across the board - and it looks like a majority of the acceptances were off the waitlist with fairly shallow scholarships.

if i decide to apply, it's sure to be a stressful cycle. and even if i were to get some acceptances, im not sold on the idea of paying sticker for some of the lower t14 schools.

the next time i would be able to retake is june 2017. you might be thinking that maybe LSAT/law school really isn't my thing. and i might agree with you. if i were to take it again, i would enlist some professional help. self-studying only took me this far.

1) is it worth it to apply to the t14?
2) if im somehow accepted, would i be able to defer acceptance? i think this might be an attractive strategy since it would allow me to take the test one more time and re-approach the application cycle with a better score.
3) am i right to think paying sticker is pretty insane?

Don't retake. Apply to T1 schools and take a full ride at a place like UIUC or decent $$ at BU/BC/ND/GW, but don't go to GW

thanks for the advice. maybe im being stubborn, but im not comfortable going to a school outside the t14. the stats just don't seem to indicate the investment is worth it and the idea of struggling hard to land a job is not really appealing (i mean that in the least bratty way possible). i imagine i could direct my efforts to another field/industry and have better prospects.

i think i'll try to grab some fee waivers and go from there.

on a separate note, some schools offer an optional "why we shouldn't think you suck as much as your lsat indicates" supplement. has anyone ever had success writing this supplement?

it's almost embarrassing to say now considering where i stand, but i wanted academia/federal clerkship. my second choice was to go biglaw, ideally after getting a substantial scholarship. from my perspective, these were the only two career paths that seemed worth it to me. location is secondary, but i'd like to stay in the new york area.

You could sneak into a couple of T14s especially if you have any decent softs, but you should plan to pay sticker for them.

Deferring doesn't mean you get to hold an acceptance in hand and retake/reapply for better schools/scholarships. You have to commit to enrolling at that school, just one year later.

thought i've seen a couple of posts here and there from people deferring, retaking, and reapplying. i guess i was mistaken.
