Benefits of Attending LS Events
I'm sure everyone is getting emails from law schools about these events by now. Has anyone ever gone? I'm wondering if they give you the chance to personally meet any people on the adcomm? If so, I'd imagine this could confer a massive benefit - especially at the margins. But I've never heard anyone really talk about this..is this because there's no real opportunity for meaningful engagement with anyone influential?

If you're referring to an LAWS event, there are two benefits: free food and fee waivers. If you are referring to any other event, see whether they have free food.

Re: Benefits of Attending LS Events
If youre talking about like an info session hosted by a law school, they usually they have a decent amount of people in attendance and a fairly set schedule of what they discuss. Towards the end they usually take questions for 10-30 min.
They can be helpful in giving you an idea about the school and/or the application process, especially if there's 1 particular question you want to ask them that isn't only applicable to you.
But in terms of building rapport with the admissions officers, that probably rarely happens. With another 10-100+ students in attendence, if you try to talk to the officer after the event is over you have to fight for their attention. And a rushed 1 min conversation is far from enough to make them fall in love with you. It probably isn't even enough to get them to remember your name.
