Myself and most of the other applicants applying this year have had some considerable success just cold-emailing admissions offices with our stats and asking for merit-based fee waivers. If your stats are competitive for the schools you want fee waivers to, I would just do that. You could wait until after the law school fair if you want also, and just include something in your emails about how you spoke with one of their representatives at the fair.
