That's what I'd do. Worse they can do is say no, right?

I would simply state that you are AmeriCorps with X.XX GPA and XXX LSAT and you are wondering if they would extend you a fee waiver based on those credentials. If they come back with verification requirements, provide them what they require or, in the case they specifically ask for your LOC, inform them your service commitment is ongoing and you don't have it yet. Then provide them with a paystub and offer letter as verification.

You're not the first AmeriCorps person who's applying while serving. I'm certain Boalt has run into this before and they'll have a reasonable way of dealing with the situation.

Good luck! 8)

You don't have a letter of completion, but you can produce a letter of service from your My AmeriCorps homepage. I'm pretty early in my VISTA service term, but I've found that letter to be generally pretty useful thus far.

Cornell was the only one that asked for proof. :D
Could you imagine if you lied about it to get a waiver, and then had no reference to it on your resume or application? Who knows if they would catch that with all of the applications that they have... But, I imagine that would be a pretty serious C&F issue -- I wonder if it would come up when applying for the bar? I'm sure it's probably happened before (people lying about it to get a waiver)
