Reapplying to a school you were accepted to
please don't quote:
if I was accepted to a T14 school with around $100K in scholarship, would this school look negatively at my application if i didn't take their offer and reapplied? I plan on retaking the LSAT and now have a higher GPA that is at/above their 75th, my current LSAT is at their median but hoping to get above the 75th. should I do anything different with my app other than an updated resume and PS? thanks!

IDK if they would have said yes but you should have asked them last year for a non binding deferral.

I didn't think I would get one since my reason is to get a higher LSAT score. plus they only offer binding deferrals according to the website.stego wrote:IDK if they would have said yes but you should have asked them last year for a non binding deferral.

Not top 14, but a Top 20 school gave me vastly different offers in consecutive years. For admissions in 2015, I was admitted and offered over 140,000 scholarship. For admissions in 2016, I was admitted and got a very late scholly offer of 75,000. Nothing changed in my application. So, at least one school looked unfavorably upon my application in this situation.

could you unquote my post please? but thanks for the input! also T20 was more competitive this year so that might be why. for example, Vanderbilt and UCLA both went up in medians.regulartime wrote:

Overlooked possibility - medians may have been different, applicant pool may have been betterregulartime wrote:Not top 14, but a Top 20 school gave me vastly different offers in consecutive years. Not to hijack this thread, but if you are reapplying to a school to which you were accepted, do you need to mention anywhere in your application why you didn't attend the first time you were admitted?

Re: Reapplying to a school you were accepted to
there is an option on the app that will ask if you previously applied and if you were accepted, but you don't have to explain. when I withdrew I said I wanted to gain work experience (not lying because that is also part of my reason in addition to retakingnate3869 wrote:Not to hijack this thread, but if you are reapplying to a school to which you were accepted, do you need to mention anywhere in your application why you didn't attend the first time you were admitted?
