Got the same email. I'm going to try to talk them up on the amazon card. let's start a gift-card negotiations thread

I just realized it also waived the Personal Statement and LOR requirements as well with an expedited review. might as well send my app now lol.

edit: and they make a decision within 3 days!

Where do you see that? The "AL Scholars" app? Don't you need to have gone to one of those undergraduate Alabama schools listed on the website to qualify for that program?

I've gotten a couple waivers recently from schools I like. Here are some of them:

Unsolicited - notified by email: Duke (PT), UCLA, U Penn, Michigan, Vanderbilt

Successfully solicited: Cornell

Unsuccessfully solicited: NYU, Columbia, U Chicago (each of which referred me to their fee waiver policies or told me to check CRS) My fingers are still crossed for a "hidden" waiver later this fall, since I love all three.

My numbers are: 173 LSAT / 3.66 GPA. Non-URM.

I got a fee waiver from Berkeley this week after applying for one based on international volunteer experience. So if you've got something like that in your background, you may have a shot at a fee waiver even if you didn't do PeaceCorps or the like.

call-me-bubbles wrote:For those of you who got a fee waiver from Cornell, did they tell you up front that they were going to give you one, or did they play the coy, "Here's our policy on fee waivers..." line, and then surprise you with one when you filled out your app? I just got a response with a link to their website, but I'm wondering if that's a definite "no," since some other schools responded similarly, yet gave me hidden waivers later on.
Yeah, sorry - they thanked me and told me in the reply email that my fee would be waived on LSAC. You may still get your waiver later this fall, though. Which other schools gave the coy answer and then waived you through, out of curiosity?

So has anyone received a CRS waiver from Columbia? Or have they not sent out their first wave yet?

I just emailed them last night and they responded a minute ago. They pretty much said they don't hand them out themselves for equity reasons, but use CRS to determine eligibility and if you are eligible you'll receive one at time of submission. So, you'll need to check for a hidden waiver

Also curious to know about Columbia and when they normally send them out. I've received waivers from every school (except HYS, which I had to petition for need-based) except for Columbia.

I successfully solicited from Cornell, UVA, and BC, was denied from BU and Fordham. Definitely was worth the time to send the emails.
