How you all doing. I think my situation is different enough to warrant a posting. I'm looking to get into a T-14 law school, but I'm also looking for a dose of reality so feel free to lay it on me. I am hispanic and I was born as a US citizen abroad in Lima, Peru. I don't really know if that makes me a URM, but thats my background. My UG GPA is 3.2 and I walked away with a double major in electrical engineering and mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I interned at a mining company overseas while attending my University and worked in corporate finance. I am currently a Captain in the United States Marine Corps and have served as a HUMIT officer for my entire career. My LSAT score is 177. Now I know I am definitely a splitter, how badly will my low gpa affect me? Does my stem background at all make up for the low gpa? Do my softs really help me at all? What are my chances at anything in the T-14. I've always had a dream for Harvard, but is it even worth applying? Let me know what you all think.

You've definitely got a tough situation to predict, especially considering that URM and military are the only two softs that could bump you up. I know you said Harvard was the dream, but the 3.2 is likely too low to overcome. The STEM degree doesn't change much, except that you're patent bar eligible.

you searched with URM included instead of exclusively URM.

but also there isnt a large enough sample size for URMs with his LSAT score (esp. splitters) so idk if mylsn will be able to help out much here.

i would say def blanket the T14

That's the precise reason why I searched URM included. I figured any semblance of data would be more helpful than nothing at all. I agree w/Jeeves. Blanket the T14, your situation is impossible to predict, but don't get your hopes too high for HYS.

Honestly, you may have a reasonable shot at Harvard. Very few URMs score higher than a 170, let alone a 177. Three things primarily determine the bulk of admissions: GPA, LSAT, and URM status. Checking the box for two of the three (plus patent work) will definitely boost your chances.

Edit: Unfortunately, unless you are Mexican/Puerto Rican, you will not qualify as a Latino for URM status.
