LOR: TA okay?

Post by brinicolec » Fri Jul 22, 2016 4:37 pm

Hi all,

So I took a research course with a professor but our lecture was split into smaller groups with TAs for the research portion and am wondering if it would be better to ask the professor vs. the TA if they'd be willing to write me a LOR...

Obviously, I worked more with the TA than with the professor because of the nature of the course.

Anyone know about this?

The TA is fine, if they can genuinely speak to your academic ability. In the grand scheme of things, a prof is generally better, but someone who can write a genuine, specific, and positive letter is better than someone who can write only a generic letter.
