Hi all,
I recently graduated from Michigan undergrad and have a potential job lined up in Chicago for my gap year. My stats are 3.5 GPA and 170 LSAT, and I'm aiming ideally at the mid/lower t14.
I just got off the phone with admissions at Michigan Law, and they said that if I do move to Chicago, I will be initially be classified as an out of state applicant. They can change my status to in-state because my parents live in Michigan, but by the time they do, my application will likely have already been considered (it takes ~3 months to do this).
Given that I'm a splitter, and the job in Chicago isn't something I particularly love, would it be worth it to find a different job in Michigan to keep my in-state status? How much of an advantage would in-state at Michigan law be for me in terms of increased chance of admissions?

Re: Michigan Law In-State Advantage
Your numbers should get you into Michigan regardless. The only benefit i would see from being in-state would be the reduced tuition but im not even sure youd be classified as out of state for tuition purposes.
