Can a Retired Professor Write a LOR?

Post by Doubting Law » Mon Jun 20, 2016 9:51 pm

I feel like this is probably okay, but it'd be better if I knew for sure whether or not this is acceptable. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Of course, so long as the professor knows you and can say something positive about your work.

I had a Prof. Emeritus write one of mine. Granted I took a class with him etc...

If you took a class with them or did research for them, I'd say it's fine.

Yes. You may obtain a letter of recommendation from a retired professor if you believe he or she knows you well enough and can vouch for your work ethic to write a strong letter for you.

Best of luck!
