How do law schools count work experience? Is it only work experience after you receive your undergraduate degree? In my case, I am working full time in the summer and fall and finishing my degree as a part time student in the fall. My position requires a bachelors degree but the company has made an exception and is allowing me to work before graduation as I only need a part time course load to graduate.

The position is not an internship, it's legal related, and I will have worked there for a year and a few months before I matriculate to law school in Fall 2017. I know law schools look favorably upon work experience, will this be considered a year of work experience? Will I be viewed more favorably than a traditional K-JD?

probably better than KJD but people with one normal year of work experience are still a little on the low side

Like the above poster said, it's better than K-JD. You have legal-related work experience, which looks good and strengthens your case of why you want to go law school. I think this will also reflect your ability to handle a high workload while being a student, provided that you've kept your grades up during this time. Part of the appeal of candidates with work experience post-college is that they've spent time out of school where work is their #1 priority, which gives you a unique perspective on what career path you might want to follow. But that's not to say that K-JDs or cases like yours are at a disadvantage - if your grades/LSAT are high, you'll be a very competitive applicant.

A friend (not urm) got into all of hys without being waitlisted with a 168 because of his work experience and other softs. If you have really good soft, hys will fight tooth and nail for you.
