Sounds like you've already decided to go to law school and are overthinking this. You would just call or send an e-mail to politely decline the offer. The company will just hire someone else. Not sure why you would find this "immoral" but not have a problem working less than a year before telling them you're leaving for school.

Re: Renege on Job Offer for Law School?
If experience at Awesome Company is useful for your future legal career and this dream school is one of YHS, I would see if they would let you defer and keep your scholarship. If so, I would defer for the maximum allowed. If not, then the question is trickier.
If experience at Awesome Company is useful for your future legal career and this dream school is not one of YHS, I would turn down the school, take the job, and reapply during the last cycle where your LSAT is still valid (to maximize job experience). You will most likely get into comparable schools with comparable scholarships.
If experience at Awesome Company is not useful for your future legal career, then decide if you want Law or if you want Awesome. Then your path will become clear.

What's the law school and how much is your cost of attendance?

I'd work at the job and see how you like it. Law school isn't going anywhere. Better to try a different career now while young and before family. If you do law, and hate it, but acquire a family in the process, you are screwed. Life experience also helps with law school and interviewing. So, no rush. It wouldn't be immoral to reneg, the fact that you asked indicates some immaturity, so yeah, I'd take the job and see where it goes. Good luck.

Again, "immoral" wasn't the right word. I just wanted some neutral, unbiased feedback, and so I appreciate your other comments!ClubberLang wrote:I'd work at the job and see how you like it.
