Re: Georgetown Early Decision
We need a lot more info! LSAT (how many takes as well), GPA, career goals, etc. Otherwise we're just speculating based on nothing.

iirc Georgetown was the only school where ED didn't help you at all/the numbers seemed to indicate harmed you. If anyone has that table, please post. I think it was a Spivey study(?)

When are you taking the LSAT? With your excellent GPA, if you can get into the upper 160s or break 170 you could be looking at many T14 acceptances some even with scholarship money. You'll know better what to do when you get an actual LSAT score, but I wouldn't ED to Georgetown for a lot of reasons. Do what you have to and get a great LSAT score and you will have lots of options. There are great resources on here for LSAT prep.

Also a June LSAT taker, diagnostic was a 154. I got the LSAT Trainer, practice test 29-71, and consolidated the 16 week study schedule into an 11 week schedule. My score went up 10 points in between my diagnostic and my second practice tests after finishing a few lessons (went from -15 on logic games diagnostic to -2 or -3 because I simply didn't know how to diagram). I don't know what prep you've done so far but if you have the time and get on a strict study schedule you can easily get your score up 10 points in 8 weeks.schoolisfun wrote:I'm signed up to take the June LSAT. But since my scores are in the mid to high 150s for the last 5 practice tests, should I hold off on taking the June test for the October test? Is 7 weeks enough time to pull a score up 7-10 points?

Yeah. GULC will very likely accept you if you ED and you have that low 160 range. I'd give you a very strong shot at it, especially if you tailor your essay for GULC and how awesome a place DC is to learn law. (Going based on my own experiences, and those of others I know)schoolisfun wrote:OP here:
Sorry I'm kinda new to this!
LSAT practice test in high 150s at this point, hoping to get it to 164-165 range by the time I apply. I've been studying really hard for the past 4 months and have improved considerably. I am, however, hitting some serious walls.
I have a 3.9+ gpa, K-JD. Very average softs, perhaps below average.
I would like to work as a prosecutor in a large metropolitan area or JAG after graduation. Working for the federal government is my ultimate career goal.
I absolutely love the DC area, and don't see myself receiving enough aid from GW (Even with a 166/167) to turn down Georgetown. Especially since Georgetown has such a superb lrap. On mylsn I see that a lot of 164-167 regular applicants get waitlisted at Georgetown whereas ED applicants seem to get in with those scores and my gpa. Yet, mylsn gives such a tiny sample size that I question its credibility.
Any help is much appreciated!
