W&L & SMU students:
It has come down to W&L v SMU. Same scholarship amount at both. I'm from Texas/attended undergrad in Texas and plan to sit for the Texas bar. Would rather attend W&L because of the setting, smaller size, and I genuinely like it better. I do believe their alumni network is strong in Texas.. haven't been able to visit SMU & won't be able to, so I don't know what the atmosphere is like there for law students. However, am fearful I would be doing myself a disservice if I leave the Texas networking arena etc. Has anyone been in this situation that can offer some advice? Any W&L students that have experienced the Texas network? SMU people, are the classes geared towards the TX bar? Thanks for any help! Really need to make this decision ASAP.

Don't do yourself the disservice of being away from Texas, unless you're attending a t14. W&L will not get you back here. I'm from Dallas and flirted a few years ago with going "somewhere new". This is not the right approach. Go to a T14 or a school in your desired/home state. I'm at UT now and I cannot overemphasize the importance of networking in your home state. W&L may be cool for undergrad, but you will be in the middle of nowhere. Think Baylor (Waco). But that's okay if you're a Texan and go to Baylor on a full ride. A hypothetical dude from San Fran attending Baylor is pretty much insane. W&L is admittedly a bit stronger than Baylor, but that's a rough comparison

Welcome to SMU! (You shouldn't go to W&L if you plan on being in TX)
If you wanna know anything about SMU, just ask me ITT or shoot me a PM.
