Financial aid request advice?
I'm requesting a reevaluation of my financial aid package from a school, and wondering if I should mention specifically only the best offer I've received. The con is it could be less convincing if it looked like that was the only one I have gotten. The pro would be I feel including more than one seems more like I'm shopping around / like I'm unlikely to attend their school. Considering "I've received a much larger financial aid packages from other schools, including a scholarship award for $ per year from X School." Any tips?

Re: Financial aid request advice?
I would say something to this effect...
"Dear School X,
I'm very excited to have been accepted to the class of 2019. Throughout the application cycle, School X has remained one of my top choices to attend this fall.
However, as I grow closer to making a decision, I am concerned about the cost of attendance. Although I have been offered a XXX merit scholarship, I have received offers from other schools that would require me to borrow significantly less. For example, I have been offered XXX from school Y and XXX from school Z.
Could you please refer me to the correct person to discuss reconsidering my award offer?
Thank you,
Lujk"
Good luck!

It doesn't matter if you're shopping around, it's too late for YP, they admitted you and they want you. They aren't going to not give you money because you got offers from other schools and told them. You never know, the "worse" offers may entice them better than the best one. They may be angling to jump that specific school in the rankings, see them as more of a regional competitor, think you're more likely to attend that school for whatever reason, etc. You want to show them you have options you are seriously weighing and convince them they need to compete for your deposit.lujk wrote:I'm requesting a reevaluation of my financial aid package from a school, and wondering if I should mention specifically only the best offer I've received. It is best to always be honest when submitting any application. You may contact the school directly and
ask whether it is necessary to disclose all other financial aid packages received OR whether disclosure
has any weight or bearing on the final decision. Your concerns are valid, but it is best to check with the
school’s financial aid department or speak to a counselor at your current school regarding the matter.
Best of luck!
