Get Letter of Rec now or in a Year

Post by footballlax55 » Thu Feb 18, 2016 3:54 pm

I'm waiting until next cycle to apply but I'm wondering if I should get a letter of rec now or wait a year.

I've already spoken to her about it and the professor said she can write one for me either now or in a year. I was thinking she should write one now, just to make sure I definitely have it and because she probably will have a fresher image of me in her mind now rather than in a year. But she brought up that if I wait a year she could connect it to how my skills i learned in her class transferred over to what i did in that past year (working).

I'm thinking it's better for her to write one now while we're still relatively close instead of after I havent seen her in a year and I just email her my resume and info of how it connects to my job.

What do y'all think?

Unless she's your boss, I don't see how she's going to relate your classroom experience to your job. I say just get it now.

Now. Between LSAC taking forever to upload them and professors "forgetting" or being super busy - I would try to at least send the email out now and let them know a deadline you need it by that is feasible for you. It'll be less stress on you.
