Using Dated Letters of Rec Forum

Hello,

Has anyone had any success using a dated LOR? For those of you who got them in undergrad, could the outdated letters of rec still be considered, even if it was from 4-5 years ago?

Used one from 2010 as well and haven't had any issues.

Generally using a dated letter should not have a negative impact. It is advised to contact one or two the specific law schools you are applying to and asking if it is sufficient to use as they may have their own requirements in terms of letters of recommendation.

Definitely check and see what the school requires. Don't most schools require the letters to be sent to LSAC directly from the recommender? I have heard of at least two instances where applicants used letters of recommendation from undergrad professors that were written for other reasons, not law school. Both times the schools contacted the professors to check on them, and it did not end well for the applicant. So, if you're able to submit them yourself, I'd at least make sure the recommender is ok with it.
