Sending "Why X" essays now?
I'm still waiting to hear back from some schools that I applied to in October. Is there any point in writing and submitting a Why X essay at this point?

Your application may be in the review process and there likely is no need to submit that essay. You may contact a specific school you are interested in and asking what they recommend and whether it will help with the admission process.
