Do law schools see all of the schools you listed on FAFSA?

Post by Jordan Catalano » Mon Feb 08, 2016 3:27 pm

About a year ago I attended a law school application workshop, and I recall an adcomm saying that law schools can see all of the other law schools you listed on your FAFSA. But because it was a year ago, my memory of the event is a bit fuzzy, which is why I am asking here: Does anyone know if a law school can see all of the other law schools you listed on your FAFSA?

I just emailed FAFSA an (unrelated) question, and their response included this: "A student may list up to...ten schools on an electronic FAFSA. A student should list the schools in which he or she is most interested. If a school a student might attend is not one of the schools he or she originally listed on the FAFSA, the student should add the school to his or her federal student aid record so that the student's information will be available to the school. If the student wishes to provide his or her information to more than ten schools, the student will need to delete the name of the school he or she is least likely to attend. If the student makes future corrections, the student will need to add any school previously deleted if the student wants them to access the updated information."

From what I remember, the adcomm made it seem like viewing the FAFSA was a way for an adcomm to figure out whether or not the applicant was truly interested in attending the school.

If a law school can see all of the schools you added to your FAFSA, then I'm guessing my memory of the adcomms comment could be correct...

I am wondering because I just listed law schools on my FAFSA totally randomly. No order of preference at all. I received this response from FAFSA after I submitted my FAFSA and it was processed.
