Personal Statement Questions

Post by engineerlawyer1000 » Sat Jan 23, 2016 2:27 am

What font should one use for personal statement? Is it okay to use 11 size font to meet the length requirements?

Before you submit any apps, you'll be forced to read through some guidelines for every school. There you'll be able to see if they have a specific requirement for your personal statement. For the record, many ask for 12 font.

Always best to give them what they want, i.e. if they specify 12-point, Times New Roman, then give 'em that. Personally, I'm a fan of using a favorite font, if you have one, and if it's nothing too wild. I used Garamond for most of my essays and addenda, when no other preference was listed. Use something seriffed. Cuz, y'know... helvetica, barf.... no one wants to see that.

I am looking at couple of applications that specify only the number of pages, hence the questions!

Also, Should there be two spaces after each period?

No, only one space.

Use 11-point Garamond if you have a lot to say.

1-inch margins for HLS.

I've never actually seen a school request a specific font, but maybe some do.
