Skype Interview - beard or no beard?
With the cycle heating up I have a Skype interview soon. I'm curious as to if its appropriate to have a beard in the interview.

Trimmed beards are definitely becoming acceptable across the board. If you'd wear a bear when you worked there, I think its a perfectly fine thing to do.

Newsflash: Beards can be well kept and people all over biglaw are rocking them.TheatreofDreams wrote:Would you prefer to hire a professional who has a beard or someone who is well kept? Much of this may be decided at a subconscious level. Don't take your chances.

If you have a beard, your interviewer probably won't fault you for it, but there's a chance he/she may. Conversely, if you shave, your interviewer 100% will not think "You know I really liked this guy, but he didn't have a beard."
I have a beard, but shaving is the better choice here, unfortunately.

I would shave. I come from a finance background where stupid shit like having a beard may cost you and although I imagine law school admissions officers aren't too similar, I still wouldn't chance it. Some people are also ok with beards in the workplace, but expect you to be completely clean shaven for interviews. Why leave yourself open? There's no downside risk to shaving while it may be possible that your interviewer will find having a beard (even a well groomed one) unprofessional. It'll always grow back mate.

Is this an interview for law school admissions? I can't imagine a well-trimmed beard would hurt you if so. But if you're worried about it, shave.
If this was for a job I would probably shave. But, I'm also a coward so keep that in mind.
