About to submit Addendum-Please somebody take a look?
Hi. I'm about to start applying but honestly don't know whether I'm writing the addendum properly. Can somebody take a minute to scan through it and tell me if I'm on the right track/can adjust some things? Thanks so much!
Beginning at the early age of thirteen, I began taking college classes every summer up until I began college at sixteen. These were wonderful learning experiences that I enjoyed tremendously, but I was also very young and had not yet become used to the type of high level exams and study hours required at the college level. While I always earned a B or higher during this period, and I am definitely proud of my achievements at this age, I do not believe the grades in these classes reflect the level of effort and academic potential that I have come to expect from myself these last four years.

Take a look at your GPA. Rethink submitting this addendum.danielneuman613 wrote:Hi. I'm about to start applying but honestly don't know whether I'm writing the addendum properly. I agree with Lymen. Unless there was a substantial jump in your GPA (say 3.0 to 3.8+) from pre-college to when you started attending, it's pretty useless to submit an addendum.lymenheimer wrote:Take a look at your GPA. Agree with previous posters. Even if you decide to submit an addendum, rewrite this one. It sounds like an excuse to me. Just state what happened objectively. What you enjoyed or what you were proud of is irrelevant here.

You started taking college classes at age 13?!? That's pretty remarkable. You talk about this in your PS, right? If they can see this info in your PS then you don't need to write this addendum.danielneuman613 wrote:Hi. An excuse for getting Bs in college classes at age 13?strawberrieee wrote:Agree with previous posters. Even if you decide to submit an addendum, rewrite this one. It sounds like an excuse to me. Just state what happened objectively. What you enjoyed or what you were proud of is irrelevant here.
OP, there is nothing deficient about getting Bs in those classes.

What I mean is OP just needs to address the reason for Bs is that he started college at age 13. He doesn't need to say anything more than that. The more you say, the more you become less objective in it. Any positive things he got from those courses is more suitable to be addressed in personal statement (or maybe even diversity statement) but not in an addendum. But I agree that getting Bs is not something worth of an addendum.Alive97 wrote:An excuse for getting Bs in college classes at age 13?strawberrieee wrote:Agree with previous posters.
