Fee Waivers for Dec LSAT

Post by bh369 » Wed Jan 06, 2016 12:56 pm

Quick question: Do schools send out fee waivers after the December LSAT scores are released? Or this late in the cycle has the ship left the harbor? I'm specifically interested in Columbia and Berkeley, both of which seem to offer merit based unsolicited fee waivers.

I'm sure your question has been answered today. If you plan on applying this cycle and took the December LSAT your inbox was likely flooded with fee waivers today.

Indeed it has. Still left wondering about Columbia and Berkeley, but I suspect that there is nothing to do but wait another day or two.

Berkeley doesn't offer merit waivers. Check their website to see if you qualify for a solicited one (tfa, peace corps, military, Rhodes scholar and some more iirc).

Hmmm, I haven't received anything. What score does a person need to get the waivers?

You have to go on your lsac account and go to your profile settings and change your CRS (referral service) to yes.

Here is the form link for the Berkeley fee waiver: https://www.law.berkeley.edu/php-progra ... ee_waiver/

The deadline for the fee waiver was January 1st.

For Columbia, eligibility is based solely on receiving a fee waiver from LSAC:

I took that to mean that Columbia does not offer solicited fee waivers -- not that they don't use LSAT and GPA cut-offs to offer unsolicited fee waivers. But perhaps that's a mistaken interpretation. I do seem to remember people indicating that they had a hidden fee waiver from Columbia.

I've received fee waivers from most of the T14 (less HYS obviously), a lot of them flooded in yesterday.

I am still waiting on Columbia and Northwestern. Have any of you gotten a waiver from either? I know Northwestern's app was free in the beginning of the cycle, but I'm wondering whether they will still give out merit waivers. Does anyone know if/when Columbia would send out waivers based on December scores?

I received one from Northwestern. Has anyone received one from Michigan?
I received an unsolicit from Michigan a while back, prior to taking Dec LSAT (with previous score). I would definitely try to solicit from them if you haven't already.

Did you just get your Northwestern one this week? I'm not sure why I haven't gotten one yet, because I'm above both medians.

If we haven't gotten fee waivers from a school yet, should we assume they're not coming and submit our apps to be early? Or is it worth holding out another week? Are there any schools that give out fee waivers mid-January?

Has anyone gotten a fee waiver to Georgetown? I'm at/above both 75th percentiles but haven't seen anything.

I received GULC yesterday. Above 75th LSAT and 25<x<Median GPA.

I'm still waiting on Northwestern and UVA.

Weird. I got the UVA one a few days back. Maybe UVA is weighing GPA more heavily and GULC LSAT.

You are correct and I was wrong about Columbia. I received an email from Columbia today with an unsolicited fee waiver. They must have sent me this to prove my initial post wrong.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
