I apologize, I didn't realize this was some kind of faux pas. I explained my reasons for thinking 170 was a possibility, but maybe I'm not justified in thinking that.

It's okay. Even if you are PTing in 170s you may be advised to "come back with a real score", because the result might be a crapshoot, and it is all that matters.

Assuming these two exact numbers, you are around 25th percentile for both schools. I'll leave it to others on how much ethnic boost you'll get.

With a 3.7/170 you're a lock for HLS, with a good chance at Yale. You only need a 167 to get into HLS though. The fact that you're Canadian is irrelevant.

I myself am a standardized test choker. On my SAT's the only questions I got wrong college board labeled as "easy", dropping my scores to the low 700's instead of high end. Same with the LSAT, I was PTing in the high 160's on a terrible day, 170-174 on average. Real deals? 163 and 166 (can't retake anymore for personal reasons). So there is a definite chance that you will not actually reach PT potential, especially with the speed at which the test is evolving as of late. One bad reading comp section (what did me in during the December test, -7, yikes!), or a game that throws you off and your score takes a HUGE hit if you are an above 160 scorer. I would proceed with caution and nail the LSAT before worrying about things like this. The application process is much less stressful than you think once the LSAT is taken care of.

I was worried about being an international applicant, because it seems at most top schools the incoming classes are only about 15% of the total. I figure less spots means a lower chance, though I don't know how many offers they send out to international students to get that 15%.

Yeah, I don't think this means that schools are rejecting international applicants at a higher rate - just that there are fewer international students applying.
