Hello Gang,
I'm a masters student at Columbia looking to apply to Columbia Law. I'm planning on applying ED. My UG GPA was a 3.8 and my LSAT score a 160. Do you think my status as a current Columbia student will help my changes? What about at Penn etc...
Thanks!

I wouldn't expect it to make a difference anywhereHopefullawkid2015 wrote:Hello Gang,

You're almost certainly going to have to score higher on the LSAT to get into those schools. Which is fine, because even if you got in with those numbers you wood be facing sticker price and no school is worth that.

It might help a tiny bit for Columbia if you were in the running, but with an LSAT of 160 you are not even on the margins. For Columbia, you need to get your LSAT to 170 to be considered seriously, and then we'll be talking. Same more or less for Penn. You should retake if you want either school.

Re: Advice for a Master's student
The fact that a student goes to a specific school for undergraduate studies does not necessarily mean it will help that student get into the JD program, unless the school would like to promote keeping students within the same school. It may be something the admission committee considers, but does not mean it will help. Of course, the school you are currently attending has a strong name behind it so it may help when applying to other schools, as they look at your application as whole.
