Can you withdraw an early decision application before being accepted?

Post by christinanc93 » Mon Nov 23, 2015 4:27 pm

I applied early decision to Northwestern, but now I am starting to regret it. Northwestern is a great school, and I was initially attracted by their international human rights program. I still think it's a great school, and I don't want to withdraw my application entirely, but is it too late to withdraw the early decision portion? I was 100% certain it was where I wanted to go back in October, but now I'm not so sure. They have not begun sending acceptance or rejection letters. Please help.

If you withdraw ED, I will bet you are not admitted.

My question is: If I am accepted early decision at Northwestern, can I get out of this agreement by declining to matriculate in ANY law school this cycle, and delaying the start of my legal career by an additional year?
Yes.

I appreciate the response, but do you mind sourcing that? I haven't found anything official from NU to this effect, so I am curious why you believe the answer is a definite yes.
It's just how ed works, check the ed paperwork but if it's not on there you're prob just gonna have to trust us.
