I am writing a scholarship essay for NYU, one of the named scholarships. There are only a couple given each year, and so I most likely will not get the scholarship. BUT, my essay is decent, and I think that if the admissions committee reads it, it could help my chances a bit. I'm a splitter, so I could use the help.
Does anyone know if the Scholarship essays are read by a separate committee and not used for an admit decision? Because I'd hate that.

Pretty sure both committees have access to your full file. I mean, you submit them together. And if they choose to, they can use those materials in their deliberation. But they don't have to.
