Which GPA for resume?

Post by RZ5646 » Fri Nov 06, 2015 12:23 pm

My school GPA is good but significantly lower than my LSAC GPA. Should I use my school GPA for the resume I'm submitting with my apps like I would for a normal resume, or is it okay to use my LSAC GPA as long as it is labeled as such?

As long as you label it, you'll be okay. The only time I notice the GPA on a resume is when the applicant tries to be cute and game things to make it look better. I.e. only listing their major GPA and not labeling it as such.

I recently dropped CC from my resume to fit more employment things and changed the GPA listed under my 4 year school to "Cumulative Undergraduate GPA: 3.xx"

Typically if you list more than one institution, you should list the GPA that's specific to each institution.

I don't think it's wrong to list your college GPA on your resume. Schools will already see your LSAC GPA and will realize this differs from your college GPA. Resumes are usually meant for professional purposes, and you wouldn't list your LSAC GPA if you were applying for a job, you would list your college GPA.

Just my $0.02. I don't think it will make any difference in the review process either way.

Except in this case we aren't applying for jobs.

But it's still a resume, listing your current experience to date. Educational experience would be your college GPA, not your LSAC GPA.
