I got sent one of these. Considering my numbers (3.45, 161) I'd say there's very little chance that this means an advantage in admissions.

I got one of those from both Harvard and Chicago today. At least Chicago's came with a fee waiver. I do not have t6 numbers.

During my cycles, I got an invite from Stanford and Cal. Fee waiver from Cal. Dinged by both. Dinged by Cal within 2 weeks of submitting my app.

This does not mean you shouldn't apply (especially if you have a fee waiver). But it really means nothing. As posters have mentioned, if you don't have the numbers, it's likely that they just want more applicants to make them more selective (or more $$$ from app fees).

On that note, I'd write them back and request a fee waiver - it's bad form to invite someone to apply and then not offer a waiver when asked. I think law schools know this - each one that has extended such an offer has given a fee waiver. Wasn't offered that by Harvard, but I had that happen with some t14s. And I don't have the marks to get into any t14s haha

Did anyone get an email from the Harvard Law Women's Association? I thought it was interesting somehow I was solicited to apply from them, but not the general Harvard admissions... How did they find me?

The same way any school finds anyone.....I'm assuming you indicated that you're female on LSAC.

Yes they do make money from this, but isn't this just silly. Harvard is sitting on billions dollars, and they have a line of people around the corner waiting to pay them hundreds of thousands of dollars. Can the application fee money even mean anything to them?

Gaming the applications numbers so that they look better in USNWR makes a bit more sense. . . although it is sad that one of the best known names in the country if not the world spends any time giving a rat's ass what a former magazine has to say about much of anything.

One of my Facebook friends who currently attends Creighton got accepted to Illinois off the waitlist in July and made an emotional status for the sole purpose of announcing how "even though he wouldn't be going the fact that he accepted would always make him proud" and got like 300 likes

I agree that it means nothing, but I just wanted to defend adcomms, although it's also about them padding stats and churning revenue, often this invites from admissions (and especially affinity groups) are sincere indications that they would LIKE to admit you, but have no real expectation that they can.

I got a few of those teasers, being demographically appealing with great (but not HYS) numbers. I took them as indications that they thought it conceivable, at least in theory, that something in my application would justify admission, and a request to know more just in case my resume (and not my LSAC file) contained a Rhodes scholarship, cancer cure, or an explanation for an LSAT a few points below median.

And others were just spam.
