Re: Traffic tickets on C&F
I really don't know the answer, but I suggest you might try attracting attention by putting capitalized "HELP NEEDED" in your thread title or something. Remember to change it into "resolved" when you get an answer you are satisfied with.
Anyway, there are like ten unanswered posts on the first two pages.. the admission forum is not too hot these days

jumbocolumbo wrote:If its for speeding or less egregious I believe these are considered minor traffic violations. Most schools specifically state that you don't have to disclose these and doing so would probably look bad (giving them extra stuff they didn't ask for/ not following directions).
If you do feel the need, keep it short and sweet (offense, location, date, punishment if any, and then maybe just state that you served all punishments)
This actually isn't accurate. It depends a lot on the school, I've applied to many and seen wildly different standards, but MOST will still require you to tell them about your traffic tickets, to include speeding. The exceptions under "minor" are generally considered non-moving violations (usually faulty equipment - they don't want to know about when your tail light went out), or things that are normally secondary offenses (you weren't wearing your seatbelt). Look, the school isn't going to frown on you for being more forthright than you need to: if you have speeding tickets, at least one school you apply to will need to to disclose all of them, so why not just create a file for that school and then give it to every school on the C&F?
The important thing is for you to be honest about it. It's not just that you feel you should mention it, most schools require you mention it and can revoke admission if you aren't forthright about it.

No, absolutely not. Don't tell them you're sorry or anything like that, that just seems puerile. Simply state the offense, outcome, and circumstances. Note that most schools want to know anything you've ever been "charged" with, not just found guilty of, so I had to put down that I was charged with driving with a suspended license, even though it was tossed out and court and the cop just completely messed up and was POed because I passed his unmarked vehicle when he was going 5under. :/Of course, my explanation doesn't include anything about the cop being POed - we can vent on here, but keep everything strictly professional on paper with the school.splitterfromhell wrote:So no paragraph-long explanation of/apology for the repeated traffic offenses?

Re: Traffic tickets on C&F
If the school asks for them then disclose them all matter of factly
If the school doesn't ask for them then don't bother
If it's ambiguous to you whether they are asking for them or not, then disclose

You're right it depends on the school though. Most (as I said in my last post) just don't want it.
*shrug* mweh. Like I said, it's generally covered under the application. They'll usually say not to worry about minor offenses, but they'll also usually specifically say to provide information about speeding tickets. What I was referring to was what is considered minor for law school app purposes - what the rest of society considers to be minor really doesn't matter. But again, pretty much every app will be specific enough to answer this Q. B/c, as I've said, I've applied to a good number of schools and most do specifically say to include speeding tickets.

Re: Traffic tickets on C&F
Is there a format for these types of addendums or is it just a paragraph in a word document explaining the circumstances?
