Which schools should I apply to for scholarships?

Post by chestnut90 » Sat Oct 31, 2015 9:01 am

Hey guys,

My score is 167/3.9 (please don't tell me to retake, because I cannot.) I have applied to T14 schools.
I am planning to apply to few other schools to negotiate for scholarships.
Which schools should I apply to ?

Thank you in advance.

It is best to first consider the location of the school, whether you are willing to relocate and find the amount of assistance you are looking for. Once you determine the location, it will make the scholarship selection process less broad. Also, look at the schools you are interested in applying to and seeing what the minimum criteria is when applying for scholarships to see if you qualify.

If your PTs were in the 167-171 range, a 169 is a fabulous score, and you will enjoy the top 14.
If your PTs were 164-169, definitely wouldn't retake. Enjoy your 3.9 and take a breather, you earned it!

first decide where you want to live, you can go freakin anywhere.

I think the deal is, you gotta apply to all of the top 14 schools and relay/leverage the deals off one another until a school you like, in a place you like, is giving you money
----------------------------------------
If you were PTing 170-175:

You absolutely should retake. Your reasons why you can't are (if you are like most posters) not as significant as you think. Any concerns you have about getting to law school before a certain age are ridiculous. Life is long.

If you retake, you probably won't change your admissions outcomes by more than one or two schools, but you could change how much debt you have at the end by tens of thousands of dollars.

Seriously, if you walk in the next test and get 4 more questions right than you did before, you will get thousands more dollars in scholarship money. You would do it on a game show if people were watching, why not do it in the privacy of your LSAT testing center?

I have a shitty GPA, and would give anything to go back and change it. I have a 3.4 forever. You have the power to change the future!

I feel like, when people with 3.9s are satisfied with sub 170s, that they are swimming across a lake, everyone has already drowned, and they get 90% there, and they get tired so they swim back. You are almost there! KEEP SWIMMING.

------------------------------------------------------------------
But yeah, you have a 3.9, you don't have to listen to anything I say! And seriously 169 is an amazing feat. It's ridiculous how we split hairs here, but anyone doing 160+ is at least smart as hell.
