LSAT: 170
GPA: 3.2
Been out of undergrad for two years.
Hi guys, I know this question has been addressed quite a bit on these fora, but I'm having a hard time finding a definitive answer and wondering what the verdict is on GPA addendum's. I have a strong upward trend my final two years of undergrad (Dean's List or President's List each quarter) ending with an LSAC GPA of 3.2. I don't have a great reason for it: essentially a combination of being a D1 athlete, having to travel an hour multiple times a week to take care of my sick mother, poor with time management, and above all else being uninterested in what I was studying.
Any way I can write this in an explanatory way that doesn't come across as making excuses? I know it might not help to write one, but would it hurt? Thanks in advance.

I would be careful.
If you do not have a chance through your PS, or resume to touch on the activity level and impact of family health issues, then maybe, but be careful not to come across as you are blaming the world.
On matters such as these I would strongly lean towards Spivey's comments on submitting an addendum.

Re: Are GPA Addendum's Helpful?
Thank you for your thoughts, Haus. It seems that I should be able to sufficiently address family health issues in my PS and any outside commitments will be clearly represented in my resume. I don't want to over explain and am probably better off just letting my transcript speak for itself. Thanks again.haus wrote:I would be careful.

An upward trend is expected. Your excuses for your poor performance during your first two years probably is not enough to justify an addendum.
