Final Take for this cycle?

Post by LazyPaladin » Fri Oct 23, 2015 5:57 pm

I'm on my final take. I had a 155 in Dec of 14 and a recent jump to 161 this past test. This is disappointing considering I had a PT average of 167, combination of the final RC passage and blindside from one LR section(-8RC - 3 LG -14(8/6) LR). I was expecting a 165-167 this time around, but obviously it wasn't in the cards. I originally planned to take in February, but I just can't sit out of school for another year. I know the wisdom is to sit out as long as possible, get the highest LSAT as possible, but after being smacked down twice I have to face reality and consider the options.

I have a 3.99/161 currently, according to mylsn, it should get me into the lower T1 (Iowa and south, based on the 50th LSAT) with some money and decent money in the T2.

My plan is to apply to those safety schools and secure admission for c/o 2019. I have friends who went to similar T2 schools with worse numbers and they were getting substantial money. I also am retaking in Dec, so when I reach my potential this last time, hopefully around that 165+ score, I will be able to get better money/admissions prospects to my reach schools. In the event that I score significantly higher, I will obviously sit out this cycle and just set myself up for success afterwards. In the event that my score is the same/worse, which is unlikely I'd hope to say, I would already have admission secured for the current cycle and I wouldn't have to wait another year give or take after this one to even think of applying.

tl;dr - retaking, does this plan as a safety net make sense?
