course withdraws: good or bad for application? Forum

well hello everyone, I'm in an difficult situation here

I really did bad on two of my midterms ( prolly failed both) and I'm thinking of withdrawing for both courses to save my GPA.If I decide to drop them, how will this affect my application to law school? What are your thoughts? Has anyone been in the same situation?

Withdrew from calculus 2 freshman year because I was never good at math anyways/thought a 50 on the midterm was bad (turns out plenty of people did worse). Anyways, didn't hurt my applications in the least. Maybe it matters if its later on for you, but law school admissions are and will always be about your numbers. If you think withdrawing helps your GPA in the long run, withdraw.

I withdrew from two courses and it didn't hurt my law school app cycle one bit.

Make sure - before you withdraw from a course - that the 'W' won't be a 'WI' (Withdraw Incomplete) or some other kind of 'W' that the school considers a penalty. LSAC will only exclude nonpunative 'W's' from grade calculations.
