One of my letters statuses is listed as "Requested but not acknowledged by recommender". My professor didn't want to sign up for an account on LSAC, so he mailed it in. What triggers the acknowledged status on LSAC and is it possible that he sent in the forms correctly without LSAC recognizing the status as acknowledged?
Also, can I submit my applications now with only one letter received?

How long ago did you professor mail it in? One of my recommenders mailed his letter in (couldn't remember his PW and couldn't figure out how to retrieve it or something) and LSAC acknowledged its receipt in the usual way, it just took an extra week or so. If it's been a while since he sent it, you might want to call to see what the deal is.
As far as I know, you can submit the application with only one letter received. But it doesn't really do any good because LSAC won't be able to generate a CAS report without both recommendations, and the law school won't received your application until a CAS report is ready to be sent.

He only sent it tuesday so I wouldn't expect it to have arrived from Canada yet. Just confused why it hasnt't even changed to acknowledged but not received, which I thought was a status update.cbbinnyc wrote:How long ago did you professor mail it in? Well, if your professor didn't sign up for an LSAC account, there's no way for LSAC to know that he or she "acknowledged" your request for a letter. Wait another week, I'm sure it's fine.earthabides wrote:He only sent it tuesday so I wouldn't expect it to have arrived from Canada yet. You can ask for the tracking number if you like, but the letter will probably arrive even before you hear back from your prof. Sit back and relax.
ETA: it's interesting that your prof would rather pay for the mailing than sign up for an LSAC account, though.

Okay cool, wasn't sure if they needed to announce their intentions to mail or not.cbbinnyc wrote:Well, if your professor didn't sign up for an LSAC account, there's no way for LSAC to know that he or she "acknowledged" your request for a letter.
