I'm in the same boat and based on what most have said here, it's better to wait and apply with a competitive score than to apply early with a weak score. My plan is to apply where my score is close enough for at least a WL and wait for those where I'm likely to be rejected.

It is recommended to apply when you believe you have a strong enough score for the admission committee's deliberation.
If you believe you will have a stronger application by waiting in December, apply then. Also, some schools may have different suggestions so it is best to contact one or two of the schools you are specifically interested in applying to and seeing what they suggest with your given situation. Once again, it may depend on the school.

Has anyone noticed that it seems almost all posts made by the above poster can essentially be summarized into "it depends" and "call the school"?
