Which Personal Statement to Go With

Post by GiantsFan » Fri Sep 18, 2015 6:58 pm

Writing my personal statement this weekend and I am trying to decide which route to go. Do I write the personal statement that highlights my successful career post-undergrad (consulting for 4.5 years with 4 promotions, now lead a team of 16 people) or do I write one on my personal background that explains adversity that I have overcome and how I have grown from it? Which do you believe is going to stick out more and garner the most positive reaction?

You should be able to combine those two experiences into a coherent narrative

But don't just rewrite your resume in story form

Good advice. This was my plan. My 3L friend said I should push the experience topic instead of my background. Wanted other opinions. You both confirmed my initial viewpoint. Thanks for the replies.
