Resume Question

Post by 3pianists » Wed Sep 09, 2015 11:54 pm

My undergrad is in piano performance. I am on the fence as to whether to include some of my performing activities; advice appreciated.

Cons:
- not directly relevant
- adds length--I would have to cut some strong points to stay under 2 pages :(

Pros:
- demonstrates that I'm not giving up on piano and pursuing law because I'm a sucky pianist (but I have a feeling it's actually my ego that wants that demonstrated, not the schools)
- not demonstrated anywhere else in my application
- gives a better picture of how I've spent my time, like including an extra job even if it's not relevant.

It wouldn't be extensive--just a few recitals, master classes, competitions, and extracurricular/outreach performances.

Thanks. :)

There is no reason you should be struggling to keep an undergrad resume to one page. Delete the fluff and reformat.

Have you written your PS? Maybe you could cut it from your resume but make it the topic of your essay?
