Rec Letters from 2014

Post by bellepepper » Fri Sep 04, 2015 1:00 pm

Happy Friday All,

Last year I applied for law school very late in the process and ended up not getting into my top schools, replying again this year. Should I get a new set of letters? On one of the professors who had written me a letter is on sabbatical.

Any input would be great.

Best wishes to all taking the LSAT and applying this year.

A couple top schools (H & S iirc?) require at least one new letter, but the vast majority do not. You can use the same letters.

In terms of letters of recommendation, since it was used only one year ago you may use the same recommendation letter. However, if you have worked, interned, or taken any additional classes since then, you may always acquire a letter from an employer or more recent professor if you feel he/she will write you a stronger one.

Also, it depends on the school. It is best to contact or research the schools you are interested in applying to and see if it is necessary.
