Hey all, quick question.
Columbia sent me an email inviting me to attend a tour/info session on Thursday (I know it is a public event, just don't know how wide the net is for email invites). Columbia is one of my top choices, and I would like to maximize my scholarship money and chances of admission. My family has been planning to go on a trip that day for a couple of weeks (nothing major, just a day trip) before I head back to school, and all of us are in agreement that I should bail to visit Columbia if it could have any kind of impact on my outcome. I live fairly close, so I will have no problem visiting in the future if accepted.
If it helps, I am above both 75% but k-jd. Thank you for any input!

Re: Columbia Visit Question
Why do you think they emailed you?
If its just some generic newsletter they send to many people I am quite certain it won't affect your chances at all, especially since I gather you haven't even applied.

Re: Columbia Visit Question
can't see your attendance on that specific day having any impact at all on your chances. i would email back and ask for an alternative date - they typically have those sessions on a fairly regular basis, and as long as you attend one date it's all the sameKahuna Burger wrote:Hey all, quick question.

Re: Columbia Visit Question
It's not going to help in any appreciable way, and with your stats your chances are probably as good as it gets anyway.

Re: Columbia Visit Question
This is completely irrelevant to your chances in applying
You'll be sorely disappointed if you show up and expect this to mean anything

Chances are you'll get in anyway if you're above both 75ths. You really have nothing to worry about
