Texas Law School info.

Post by TexasRebel » Sat Aug 01, 2015 6:40 pm

Can anybody who is either attending, or familiar with U-Texas Law School give me some admissions advice.

How much of a boost does applying ED give me? Texas Law is my dream school, and I want to work in State. My GPA is only a 3.4( with an extreme upward trend), but my LSAT will be somewhere at the 75% or above( I'm consistently practice testing between 168-172 with more room for improvement on games) and I will keep retaking if needed until I achieve that kind of score.

Second, and I promise this isn't political, but I'm actually curious. With the Fisher case back before the Supreme Court, and with many people expecting the Court to rule in favor of Fisher, would it be worth waiting until the next cycle to apply given that I am a white male? Again, not trying to anger anybody or make a political point, I'm actually just curious, and want to get people's thoughts on this. :)

I think a 170+ would get you in. I was accepted with a 172 and a much lower GPA through regular admissions. Can't really comment on the rest.

If you actually hit 168 then I assume you would get in RD and wouldn't need to apply ED. That's way cart before the horse however, you don't have an LSAT score yet.

Check out www.mylsn.info for chances

I can't comment on the rest either but I don't think it would matter when you applied.

Honestly, it probably won't make a difference. All these decisions do is just redefine the standard that has to be met when using diversity as a plus factor for admissions. If they come down on Fisher, it just means they'll draft another AA/diversity policy to comply with whatever standard is required of the decision. But then again, I wasn't an A student con law, so don't take my word as bond.

It shouldn't matter anyways... If you have the score to get in, you'll get in. You only really get a boost for diversity if you're a marginal candidate, and even then, I know some non-URM people with some low LSAT scores (160-162) that got in.

I've probably run my limit on discussing the merits of AA (which is supposedly banned here), so /2cents.
