Rep of School probably gives you more opportunities overall. And it is probably a real possibility that you could change your opinion of what you want to be doing during law school. Sounds like you should apply to Maryland, but I would still look seriously at your more prestigious options.

I've seen it explained on tls numerous times that speciality rankings/programs mean absolutely nothing as far as getting a job goes

I think there are probably some benefits to attending a school with a strong specialty program in an area of interest, but a measurable boost to the employment statistics of the school is not one of them.

Curious as to which program at Maryland ? Regardless, typically specialty programs, other than tax law, mean next to nothing regarding employment opportunities.

Read the TLS law school profile on Maryland. I suspect that you'll matriculate elsewhere.

(As an aside, a friend's son just finished at Maryland. I'll try to contact him & ask about his son's experience & the crime rate surrounding campus.) I do know that Maryland's admission standards dipped substantially a few years ago re:LSAT score.

Specialty programs don't matter unless you're talking about tax at GULC or another top school.

Besides, Maryland is in a not so great part of town.
