Is this something new? Or experience and/ or gap year have always given a boost in non-Northwestern T14 admission? Is it becoming more and more of a factor? Has it been discussed elsewhere?

If I recall correctly the value of work experience has been discussed in the Spivey thread with him and Karen talking about the value of work experience.

I do not think that K-JD is going away anytime soon, but I do think that work experience prior to law school is a benefit, not only for admissions, but to make it easier to pitch yourself for a job after law school.

they should, but I'm sure there will always be T14s willing to snatch up high number KJDs.

I'd like to see this broken down more into type of work experience. I'm currently not working very prestigious jobs in my year off (administrative assistant/secretary full-time, retail part-time at night). I probably wouldn't get much of a WE bump, if any, I'm assuming? What about at OCI? Will one year of generic employment be viewed much differently than a K-JD to a hiring partner?

My goal was just to stay and live with my parents in the middle of nowhere in order to save up money. Hoping that decision doesn't come back to bite me.

What do you mean by "non-northwestern T14"??

IS there a T14 school in the Northwest? I don't think so...
