GPA addendum for 1 semester or will I look like a doof? Forum

Basically my last semester that law schools will see I did really bad compared to my others. I got a 3.0 which in contrast with a few semesters of 4.0/3.6/3.8/3.7/3.6 look a bit off. I was extremely sick during this semester resulting in this gpa. However, I know gpa isn't necessarily a killer but my sickness 100% affected my gpa. Should I write an addendum on this or will I just look dumb since it's a 3.0? Thanks!

Does "extremely sick" have an actual diagnosis that you can mention? At the very least something like mono or pneumonia.

If you just had bad colds, then don't bother. If you had cancer or had your appendix burst, then sure, write one. But be aware that it's not going to help you outperform your numbers. At best it removes the mental question mark an adcom might put by that one 3.0 term.

Sure, that's legit enough that adcoms won't roll their eyes. But still, don't expect miracles.
